Project 2: Walk & Jump Animation
Week 7
Project 2 (Progression 1) - Walk Cycle Animation
Reference:
I referred to the book <The Animator's Survival Kit> by Richard Williams. I read through from pg102-117, in the book, the author mentioned a lot more details in animating the walking cycle as different people/characters walk differently, and audiences can tell the character's personality by observing the walking style.

Firstly, I used my character's side view as a reference for proportion purposes, then I started to sketch out the contact, down, pass, and up pose. After showing it to Mr.Kamal, I realized the poses are not connected (the feet were not tied) hence I need to move each pose closer until the feet met at the same point. For the tie-down, I remain the upper body part for all poses in order to remain consistent, then I sketch out the legs and hands.

I tried to animate to hair by applying the technique from the exercise boucing ball with tail.

Project 2 (Progression 2) - Jump Animation
Progressions:
fig: 1st attempt (referring to animator's survival kit):
During the progress, I received feedback from Mr.Kamal as I felt kinda weird and not smooth in terms of the action and frames, then I realized its running while jumping, Mr.Kamal said that this was too difficult and need to add even more frames than the reference from the book, its better to start with jump only.
