Week 2
List down 3 of yourDECONSTRUCTING DIGITAL IMAGES AND THE RENDERING PROCESS works and explain why you like them the most.
Although this motion video is quite short it but is quite effective in the looping method. It ends where it started, which makes it very interesting when you don't even know you are repeating the video. In the first 3 secs (when the character is still working), it has a slowly developed tension there, like we can see the character slowly go down then jump which creates tension there right before the peak of the whole motion video (when the character started to dance). Furthermore, the motions are only applied to some of the elements but not the whole visuals so it doesn't look too messy but looks neat.
I like the transitions in this motion video; they are very dynamic. Each animation has its ups and downs, like a roller coaster. Although there is a typo, the overall flow is very comfortable and smooth. Additionally, the design behind each script and the animation design are well-related, which makes this motion video very effective.
I really like the color combination, it’s fresh and interesting. The colors create harmony and contrast, which is really effective. The transitions and animation is impactful, effectively leads viewers’ attention to the scripted texts on screen. The sound effect is on point and clear. The motion graphics are all formed with simple shapes and composition but well-related with the content, which what makes me impressed so much.
Exercise 1: Deconstructing digital images and rendering process
Progressions:
fig: photoshop
For the compositions, I first removed the backgrounds of the elements and played around with the elements, I duplicated the elements to create contrast for the main subject and made adjustments (hues, saturation, vibrance, contrast, brightness) to make it look more interesting.
fig: after effects
Then I import the Photoshop file to After Effects for animation purposes. Before animating, I will first rename the element's name as I have a lot of duplicated elements that share the same names. Then I decide which will need to appear first, I mainly use scale and position for the entrance and exit. I also applied motion blur for all the motions, I chose composition 3 then I realized the animation was too short and I didn't think looping animation could work effectively for this composition, hence I decided to add composition 1 into it, so I added transitions between these two composition by using opacity and scale.
fig: premiere pro
I imported the final animation into Premiere Pro to add sound effects.
