Extra Tutorials (YouTube)

Adobe Audition:

fig: high pass in EQ

Using EQ, reduce the hp to remove the wind rumbling sound.

fig: audio arrangement

After getting roughly what audio I needed, I start to arrange the overall story flow first.

fig: effects

Adding effects to fit the environment, mainly using Parametric EQ, reverb, DeNoise, Dynamics. Especially the toilet scene, reverb needed to make it fits in.

fig: automation & panning

Adding keyframes for the tracks (panning, volume) to create the space of the scene.

fig: noise reduction

Noise reduction for some of the downloaded tracks, as some of them have some background noise that I wanted to avoid, as it will make the whole flow unnatural.

fig: dynamics>autogate

I used auto gate to remove the unnecessary background noise to create cleaner and clearer track.

fig: individual tracks edit

fig:final adjustments

After done the arrangements, I keep repeat the tracks to make sure the space, effects are accurate, and added some ambience for some scenes which is too quite and plain.

Final Submission:

Feedbacks:

Storyline: Add more ambience sound, because it's not possible to just pure silence, for example, fan, air conditioner, neighbour, cars....etc

Reflection:

For this project, is quite fun by creating a story using audio only, we always get used to create visuals, but often forget about how important audio is. Audio create space and imagination for listeners just like how visuals do to. I was struggling what story to go for at first, then I was thinking I should start with something I can relate to, which is my daily life, start with something I familiar with and what I usually do, so I able to know what sound effects needed.
