Project 2: Jump Animation

After consulting, I chose the 2nd reference for the first attempt.

PROGRESSIONS:

fig: first attempt

My first attempt was just to follow the reference and set extreme pose by pose, but after I showed it to Mr. Kamal, I realized I made some mistakes and decided to redo them.

fig: first standing pose

By following the tutorial referring to the animator's survival kit jump animation reference. Start with a natural standing pose.

fig: contact pose

After the anticipation, clear the upper body and move it forward for the jump.

fig: middle position

After key the landing pose, need to find the middle point of both contact pose, by converting the graph to linear then only key the mid-air pose.

fig: mid-air pose

Move up both feet and hip to go mid-air. and rotate the feet.

Adjust the timing by following the animator's survival kit, with slow in and slow out.

Adjust the timing accordingly and make sure to select all the controls and frames. 

fig: lighting 

Setting up the lighting with 3 area lights, a mixture of cold and warm light.

fig: facial expression

After rendering, I felt like the facial expression to stiff so I made a simple animation for it, the character closes his eyes when he is in mid-air. Basically three frames in total.
