Week 1 :
Lectures:
Today is our first class, Mr. Martin briefed us on the overview of this module and introduction of Adobe Photoshop. After the briefing, Mr. Martin assigned us tasks and guide us to set up the E-portfolio. Then, we played a game ,the Bezier Game is to practice using pen tool for Adobe Software.

Module information booklet:
Fig xx: the Bezier game
There are few stages in the Bezier game and the picture above is only one of the stages. It is quite challenging for me at first but I found it quite interesting after that. It helps us to develop the skill in using the pen tool in Adobe software.

I love the combination of an elephant and a butterfly, it's interesting that the wings of the butterfly can act as the elephant's flappy ear, it gave the elephant a hint of color. Besides, it also interesting that the elephant was edited into a city, which is rare scene or probably never happened. The elephant inside the image is bigger than a usual elephant thus it catches people's attention.

The composition of human and fish, reminds me of mermaid but in an alternative way. Thus, it really new and interesting for me. In the fairytales, mermaid may be very beautiful, but what if in real life mermaids doesn't look like what we imagine .

fig xx: linear gradient (screen)
During week 9, Mr. Martin guided us on how to use gradient tool to blend the image. After applying gradient in black and white, change it to screen mode, thus the black will become transparent and white will be more opaque. The screenshot above is the outcome of using linear gradient + screen mode with opacity 49 %.
fig xx: radial gradient (screen)
The screenshot above, I use radial gradient + screen mode with opacity 46%.
fig xx: linear gradient (multiply)
Next, we try using the multiply mode. It is the opposite concept of screen mode, the black part will be opaque whereas the white part is transparent.
fig xx: flock of birds in the image of seaside
First, using lasso tool to trim out the birds and add a "level" layer to adjust the contrast to make the background become all white. Thus, we can apply the "multiply" mode to make the white space transparent, it is an another way to remove the background.
